The shire of Aros and the Academy of Defence are inviting all fencers to the annual historic fencing camp, this year with added Collegium of Defence.
The event takes place in Uppsala on the 28-30th of August at Lurbo gård (no street adress) Directions and travel instructions will be linked from the Kingdom Calender.

As every year we will have Master Timotheus teach us the intricacies of cut & thrust fencing and there will also be teaching of period fencing styles that work without cut & thrust. Master Cernac will be teaching from the manual of Nicoletto Giganti
There will also be an academy meeting and elections for a new preceptor and scribe as well as some playing of the prize for free scholar.
This year there will also be a small scriptorium with a couple of classes taught by Lady Lia de Thornegge and Vicountess Ermingard Hawenthorn.

The site has 18 beds available and there will be crashspace available as well. Site opens at 1700h on Friday and closes at 1800h on Sunday. Breakfast and lunch will be served on Saturday and Sunday. There will also be travellers’ fare available on Friday evening and a splendid Renaissance banquet on Saturday evening.
On Friday evening there will be a talk by Master Timoteus on “The origins of fencing in the high middle ages”.
If you intend to participate in the cut&thrust fencing please bring protective equipment, at minimum a set of skate pads.

The cost of the whole event (including all meals and a bed) will be 530 SEK, which breaks down as follows:
Site fee 250 SEK
Feast 100 SEK
Travellers’ fare, Friday 20 SEK
Breakfast 20 SEK/day
Lunch 20 SEK/day
Bed 40 SEK/night

Day visitor (Sat) 125 SEK

Directions to get to the site:

The nearest airport is Arlanda airport, from there there's a direct train to Uppsala Central station (takes about 18 minutes) or bus (about 40 minutes)
Ryanair flys into Skavsta airport, from there it'a bout 2 hours by bus to Stockholm central station. The train from Stockholm to Uppsala Central station takes bout 45 minutes.

By Public transport:
Bus number 11 towards " Sunnersta" stops close to the site. It leaves from Stora Torget in Uppsala. about 5 minutes walk from Uppsala central station.

Get off the bus at the stop called " Lurbo bro". Walk 50 meters in the same direction as the bus and take the first (and only) road to the right.
Cross the small bridge and walk about 300m up the hill until you see a white/yellow house with gravel in front of it it's the first on your left, that's the site.

By Car:

Make your best way to the E4 towards Uppsala.
Take the southernmost exit from the motorway and continue straight through the big roundabout the exit towards Uppsala centrum.
Continue straight on that road (Kungsängsleden) through several trafficlights. Cross the bridge and continue straight forward through yet another traffic light. The road changes it's name to "Vårdsätra vägen"
Continue on this road. when you get to a tiny roundabout keep going straight. There will be fields around you.
Take the first real road to the right, "Lurbovägen" and drive about 300m up a hill until you see the first house on the left, a white/yellow house by the left side of the road, that's the site.
